Travel Nursing Industry

Travel nursing is one of the fastest growing nursing industries in the world these days. Travel nursing has gained significant popularity in Alaska, because of the shortage of registered nurses in the country. The need for a more satisfying career is increasing, recent media attention is being diverted to the nursing shortage, and good salaries for beginning nurses is making nurse travel career popular.

Although, in the past, many travel nurses often worked with verbal commitments, contracts are completely necessary. But now-a-days the picture is different. Different travel nursing agencies register travel nurses, and then these agencies send them on contracts to their clients and also supply the travel nurses with housing and travel expenses. They even take care of the licensing, benefits and payroll services.

Mostly all the contracts are of shorter duration. Assignment for a travel nurse may range between 8 weeks and 26 weeks. These short term assignments may extend for longer periods. The nurse gets paid above market wages to work and live in a new region.
